Flamingo Mountain - Original Painting | MoonSun Gear™

Born between two worlds. Created by MoonSun Gear™

The Story Behind Tropical Mountain

It all started in Mammoth Lakes, California, a small mountain town where I discovered MoonSun Gear™ and began developing the creative vision behind the brand.

Originally from Miami, Florida, I grew up with a connection to tropical environments and wildlife. When I brought that perspective into the mountain landscape surrounding me in California, an idea began to take shape: what if animals you would never expect to find in the mountains could exist there?

That question became Tropical Mountain, the first collection from MoonSun Gear™.

The collection brings together four animals from contrasting worlds: the flamingo, alligator, dolphin, and bobcat. Each represents a different part of the concept, merging tropical imagery with the rugged atmosphere of the mountains.

Tropical Mountain is about contrast, imagination, and creating a world where different environments can coexist

From Digital Art to Original Painting

The flamingo design began as a digital artwork and was developed into apparel as part of the original Tropical Mountain collection. I later brought the design onto canvas, transforming the original concept into a physical work of art.

Created with oil paint, glitter, and a full-surface epoxy resin finish, this original painting brings the digital composition into a new medium. The painted details and reflective surface give the artwork its own physical presence while preserving the visual identity of the original design.

A collection of process videos documents the journey of the piece, from its artistic origins to the finished painting.

A Piece of the MoonSun Gear Story

Tropical Mountain represents the foundation of MoonSun Gear™: taking inspiration from different places, combining contrasting ideas, and creating something that feels entirely its own.

What began as an idea connecting the tropical world of Miami with the mountain environment of Mammoth Lakes has grown from digital artwork into apparel and now original physical art.

This painting carries that journey forward.
